When there are notes in a post, users cannot quickly toggle the Notes sidebar using the keyboard. They must use mouse interactions or navigate through menus, which interrupts keyboard-focused workflows when frequently switching between notes and main content.
What is your proposed solution?
Add a "Show/Hide Notes Panel" command to the command palette (Ctrl/Cmd + K). Typing "Notes" would display a toggle command that shows/hides the Notes sidebar instantly, maintaining keyboard focus and workflow continuity.
I have created a prototype here that I'd be happy to convert into a PR.
Interesting idea. I think we've a couple of similar proposals, like adding a shortcut for creating new notes.
Internally, the notes feature uses two sidebars (Floating and All Notes). At the moment, both have some restrictions when displayed. The commands probably should keep these restrictions in mind.
@juanmaguitar - love this idea, thanks! Are you able to work on a PR to bring your plugin code directly into Gutenberg? Myself and other contributors are happy to support with core reviews or any questions you have about the approach.
I’ve been working on a core implementation for this command palette feature based on the discussion above. While putting the dynamic loader together, an enhancements came up. To truly solve the problem of mouse-free workflow interruptions, we should pair this palette registry with an actual global keyboard shortcut. For example, since the standard sidebar uses Cmd + Shift + , (Mac) / Ctrl + Shift + , (Windows), we could introduce a neighbouring shortcut for the Notes panel (e.g., Cmd + Shift + . or similar depending on shortcut collisions) to toggle the panel.
Would love to hear thoughts on baking the keyboard shortcut into this scope!

Thanks for this info @Mamaduka. I think my prototype only works for the "All Notes" sidebar.
Yes, I agree
A shortcut for creating a new note on the current block would be a great addition.

I'm getting 404 when trying to access the link. It seems to be a private repo.

Yes it was. Sorry about that. It's public now.

There are probably two interpretations of this task.

Punting this for now until we can land #79864 and match the dropdown actions with commands.
