Uses the excellently curated AiSList to quickly determine if a YouTube channel is AI nonsense or not
This is an incredibly straightforward and small Android app that keeps a locally cached version of the wonderful AiSList and lets you quickly see if a YouTube channel is on either the Block List or the Warn List by pasting in the URL or just the channel name. I understand you can just keep a local clone of that repo on your phone and simply search it in a text editor of your choice so I also added the ability to use the YouTube apps Share feature to share channels straight with AiSCheck.
- 🔴 If a channel is on the Block List, you see a red alert
- 🟠 If a channel is on the Warn List, you see an orange warning
- 🟢 If a channel is on neither list, you see a green message
Simple as that. There are no ads or tracking or anything inside this app, it's just a simple lookup that will keep those lists up-to-date.
As it is a single purpose app and I have no desire (or right) to monetise it, there probably won't be many future updates. I may incorporate other curated lists of AI channels in the future, perhaps I'll expand it to contain lists of accounts on other sites too.
Nope, not in any way. I admire their sisyphean work and if they have plans to build something like this and want me to delete this repo, I will. If you appreciate my work and are the sort to chuck a couple of bucks to developers, go over to their repo and chuck it their way. I believe they have a ko-fi link. They've done all the hard work, I just vibed an APK.
All the information for reporting channels is on their site. Join their community and have at it. This task is only going to get bigger and require more volunteers.
I don't have an Android developer account or whatever is required to publish this there. If this app ever gets cloned and ends up there while this message is here, it is an imposter and I wouldn't trust it. If you're the paranoid sort, review this source code and see how the release APKs get built.
I have no Android development experience and only access to a Pixel 9a and a Pixel 8. If you are experiencing an issue on your specific device, feel free to report the issue and I can try to help 🤷♂️ but I wouldn't expect much. I am however happy to receive pull requests if you come across an issue and have a fix for it.
I understand the irony here but I have never built an Android app (or any Java app for that matter) despite being a programmer for over 20 years so I did use Claude Code to help me put this together. Now the bare bones are in place I should be able to continue most of the development without the aid of clankers.
