Firstly, really cool of you to come up with this solution. AWS seems to not care about the VPN clients at all seeing the latest supported Linux at the time of writing this is Ubuntu 20.
Anyways, as I use a not-Ubuntu distro, I needed a better approach. And as I am a fan of containerization, I've packaged your work into one. Currently running on Debian base, but am working to get it running on Alpine base.
If you'd like to use this solution in your repo then I'm happy to create a PR.
