Errors when trying to install p5.serialserver

I have tried everything I can think of to try and download p5.serialserver on a mac. I used all three methods suggested in the documentation. It keeps giving me errors that 3 arguments are required, but 2 were provided like below:

I assume this is because there are updated required and some of the packages required have changed, but I'm not sure which packages or how to resolve this. Any ideas would be helpful.

cannot install the node version of the server on OSX 14.7.1 (sonoma)
node version : v22.18.0

Hi All,

Apologies to @montoyamoraga @vanevery for (now) double-tagging you.

following-up on my (@hex705) post above.

For me, the 'npm install' fail issue was not this repository -- but rather it was osx command line tool fail due to minor osx update.

The errors thrown on my system were similar to first post above, and suggested that the packages from the repo were causing the trouble.

Further digging was a bit of a chase -- suggesting that it was an EACCESS permissions issue with NPM.

Finally, it became clear (sudo install attempt fails and some other hints) that my install of xcrun on osx was the problem.

I had to do the following twice (not sure why) - but managed to get the server running:

Remove commandLineTools - this is recursive and take a moment or two

on OSX command line::

sudo rm -rf /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools

then, also command line ::

xcode-select --install

reboot and, command line again -- try::

npm install
