A skills-only plugin for ChatGPT Desktop and Codex that helps long-running conversations survive context pressure without pretending an exact token threshold API exists.
- Maintains concise rolling state after material decisions, changes, validations, and blockers.
- Generates a complete handoff package before continuity degrades.
- Includes goals, paths, environment, current state, completed work, decisions, constraints, recent changes, verification, remaining tasks, known issues, next step, and a recovery prompt.
- Produces separate long-term memory candidates and rejects temporary logs, one-off errors, secrets, and unsupported inferences.
- Uses real host context or compaction signals when available; otherwise labels size-based triggering as heuristic.
- It cannot read an undocumented exact per-chat token percentage.
- It cannot guarantee that the host will invoke a Skill on every turn.
- It cannot unconditionally create and migrate every type of ChatGPT chat.
- In an ordinary Chat without a writable workspace, it cannot claim that an external rolling-state file exists.

Use Auto Handoff to prepare a complete recovery package for a fresh chat.
Workspace-backed tasks store state at .codex/auto-handoff/state.json. Ordinary Chat sessions keep a compact logical checkpoint in conversation context and emit the package when triggered.
