Collection expansion: deepen modern art beyond early abstraction and propaganda

Curatorial gap

Modernist Tank is one of the strongest existing areas, but it leans heavily toward Kandinsky/Klee/Mondrian, Escher, Soviet-style propaganda, and a few abstract works. The collection would benefit from a broader modern and postwar program: Dada, Bauhaus/design, color field, minimalism, conceptual art, assemblage, feminist/body art analogues, land/environmental art, and postmodern critique.

Agent task

Create 3-5 accession-ready works that deepen modern art without repeating the current early-modern abstraction set.

Deliverables

• New image assets and src/data/artworks.yaml metadata.
• Prefer era: Modernist Tank or era: Abstract Currents unless a work clearly belongs in Pop Art Aquarium or another established wing.
• Suggested categories: Dada Currents, Color Field Rituals, Minimal Objects, Conceptual Systems, Assemblage, Environmental Art.
• Include at least two movements not currently represented in the collection.

Curatorial constraints

• Avoid another Kandinsky-like composition unless it solves a genuinely new curatorial problem.
• For referential works, preserve the movement's formal commitments rather than merely applying a style filter.
• Make shrimp-folk culture structurally relevant: molt records as conceptual systems, current fields as color discipline, reef-city debris as assemblage, tide rooms as installation, etc.
• The tone should remain museum-serious and not become an art-history checklist.

Acceptance criteria

• At least 3 new published works broaden modern/postwar representation.
• The additions are visibly distinct from the existing Modernist Tank holdings.
• New categories are specific and reusable, not one-off jokes.
• npm run build succeeds.
