Hi, I'm Edward McCauley

I am finishing my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Southern New Hampshire University. I also hold a background in mathematics, electronics, field service engineering, troubleshooting, and military technical work.

My current focus is software engineering, full stack development, cloud infrastructure, networking, automation, and security. I enjoy learning how systems work, improving existing solutions, and building software that is practical, maintainable, and secure.

Current Focus

  • Completing my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
  • Building full stack development skills through the MEAN stack
  • Enhancing projects for my CS 499 Computer Science Capstone ePortfolio
  • Strengthening Python, JavaScript, databases, Git, and secure coding practices
  • Learning Linux, networking, cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps tools

Featured Academic and Technical Work

My current coursework and projects include full stack web development, database-driven applications, software design, secure coding, and system improvement.

Some of my current project areas include:

  • Full stack web application development
  • Python and database-backed dashboard applications
  • MongoDB and SQL database work
  • Software enhancement and refactoring
  • Secure coding practices
  • Git and GitHub workflow practice
  • Linux, automation, and cloud infrastructure learning

Capstone Work

For my CS 499 Computer Science Capstone, I am enhancing a previous software project to demonstrate growth in software design, algorithms and data structures, databases, documentation, code review, and security-focused improvements.

The goal of this work is to show how an existing project can be evaluated, improved, documented, and strengthened using professional software engineering practices.

Technical Skills

Languages: Python, JavaScript, C++, Java, SQL Databases: MongoDB, MySQL, SQL Tools: Git, GitHub, GitHub Pages, VS Code, Visual Studio, Linux Current Learning Areas: Full stack development, cloud infrastructure, networking, automation, DevOps, and secure coding

About Me

I learn best by building, testing, troubleshooting, and improving systems. My professional background has given me a strong appreciation for reliability, documentation, maintainability, and practical problem solving.

My long-term goal is to move into work that combines software development, cloud infrastructure, networking, automation, and security.
