Cannot install package via composer#84

When trying to install via composer, I get the following error

[Symfony\Component\Debug\Exception\FatalThrowableError]
Call to undefined method Composer\DependencyResolver\Pool::setAllowList()

Ubuntu 16.04
Php 7.2
Composer 1.4.2
