Environment
- FreeCAD 1.1.1, macOS 15, freecad-mcp @ de4fed2
Bug
FreeCAD 1.1 reads user modules from the versioned data dir:
~/Library/Application Support/FreeCAD/v1-1/Mod/ # 1.1 actually loads this
~/Library/Application Support/FreeCAD/Mod/ # installed here -> silently ignored
Installing AICopilot into the unversioned Mod (which the setup flow targets, and which is the correct path for FreeCAD 1.0) produces no error — FreeCAD simply never loads the workbench, the AI socket never appears, and the MCP bridge reports "FreeCAD socket not available" with no hint why.
Suggested fix
Have the installer query the real path (FreeCAD.getUserAppDataDir() via freecadcmd -c) or install into both locations; at minimum document the v1-1 path for FreeCAD 1.1 users. A log line from the bridge listing the expected Mod dir would also make this diagnosable.
(Same underlying convention on Windows/Linux: %APPDATA%\FreeCAD\v1-1\Mod, ~/.local/share/FreeCAD/v1-1/Mod.)
