Due to the new features of dynamic geometry and dynamic variable sets, the lists of those objects/references in the backends could grow a bit large. At the moment, there is a linear search for variable sets at some points in the code, which could lead to poor performance. Also, I think the same goes for the dynamic geometry links.
A possible solution of course would be a dictionary/map to quickly find the objects' indices.
This needs to be adressed and possibly fixed/altered.
