What changed

  • clear the stored playback ServiceConnection before unbinding
  • clear the binder in finally, including failed cleanup paths
  • route player release through the same idempotent service teardown
  • correct the cleanup warning typo

Why

setShowNotificationControls(false) unbinds the service but leaves playbackServiceConnection non-null. A later true update checks that stale field and skips setupPlaybackService(), so notification controls cannot be enabled again. Detach/reattach follows the same stale-state path.

Centralizing teardown also prevents release and prop updates from maintaining different connection state.

Verification

  • yarn build
  • yarn lint
  • yarn check-android
  • git diff --check

The v6 repository has no native unit-test or standalone Android compilation harness; hosted Android CI remains the Java compilation gate.

Breaking changes

None. Notification controls can now bind again after cleanup.
