Collaborator
  • Added a new performance audit document detailing a 12.62% reduction in median CI time.
  • Updated timeout settings in various test suites to 30 seconds for improved reliability preventing retries.
  • Enhanced the CI profiling script to include concurrency information.
  • Improved error handling in file operations to ensure robustness during concurrent builds.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved package discovery so missing filesystem entries no longer prevent other packages from being found.
    • Site and CLI asset copying falls back to standard copying if optimized copying fails.
    • Profiling artifact updates replace stale run files while preserving canonical reports and unrelated files.
  • Performance
    • Site and CLI asset copying can use faster filesystem cloning on macOS when conditions allow.
  • Developer Experience
    • Profiling reports record non-default concurrency settings and retain completed benchmark results if a later run fails.

Walkthrough

The changes update profiler concurrency reporting and sample persistence, make package discovery continue after per-entry stat errors, add conditional filesystem cloning to site and binary copying, and set explicit timeouts in three test suites.

Changes: CI profiling

Layer / File(s) Summary
Profile metadata and benchmark samples
projects/internals/ci/ci-profile.js, projects/internals/ci/ci-profile.test.js
The profiler records WIREIT_PARALLEL and reports the selected concurrency. Each completed benchmark run is saved to a temporary JSON file with metadata. Artifact copying removes matching stale files and links before copying current artifacts. Tests check replacement of matching artifacts and preservation of unrelated files.

Package discovery

Layer / File(s) Summary
Skip missing entries during discovery
projects/internals/metadata/src/tasks/wireit.utils.ts, projects/internals/metadata/src/tasks/wireit.utils.test.ts
findPackageJsonFiles sorts directory entries and skips entries when statSync fails. A non-Windows test checks package discovery with a dangling symlink in the fixture root.

Site and binary copying

Layer / File(s) Summary
Clone eligible site output and binaries
projects/pages/index.js
The build attempts macOS filesystem cloning for eligible site output and CLI binaries. If cloning fails or does not apply, it uses recursive cpSync copying.

Test timeouts

Layer / File(s) Summary
Set explicit test timeouts
projects/cli/src/index.test.ts, projects/internals/tools/src/index.test.ts, projects/site/src/sitemap/index.test.ts
The CLI index test uses a 15-second timeout. The tools and sitemap tests use 30-second timeouts.

package is still discovered.

Remove stale per-sample artifacts between profiles.

--reset none accepts only one sample, so the three-sample scenario is not reachable. A later one-sample profile still writes only ci-profile-run-1.json; copyProfileArtifacts does not remove higher-numbered files from an earlier profile. Remove old sample artifacts before copying, or publish each profile in a separate directory.

The canonical ci-profile.json and ci-profile.md reports use the current in-memory samples, so this issue affects retained per-sample artifacts rather than the current report.
