Welcome to the @GMU-ASRC wiki!

This is the wiki for the Autonomous Swarm Robotics Center (ASRC), a research division under the CREATE Lab @ GMU.
PI: Cameron Nowzari.

General Info

If you're new to the lab, check out Onboarding.

Software-heavy Projects

Spiking Neural Network (SNN) Swarm Defense

Lead: Kevin Z

Train SNNs for a defensive swarm playing against human adversaries.

Slack Channels:

  • #farp: General talk about using our in-house simulator to find swarm defenses.
  • #neuromorphic: Using SNNs to find swarm behaviors for defense.

Human-Swarm Interaction (HSI) for Defense

Lead: Shantanu Bhattacharjee

Design a leader robot (with sophisticated sensors) and follower robots (simple sensors) to work as a team against human adversaries.

Slack Channel: #farp

Game Design: AstroSwarm

Lead: Gagan "Adith" Manjunatha

Designing a playable game to support simulation-heavy research projects like the ones above. The game should make it much easier and fun to collective the large amounts of human-generated data needed by the simulation teams.

Slack Channel: #astroswarm

Hardware-heavy Projects

TurboPi

Lead: Logan Teyema

Research, Design, and Deployment of TurboPi robot swarms in the lab.

Slack Channels:

  • #turbopi: Deploying swarms to validate emergent behaviors found by the software teams.
  • #turbopi2: Researching and developing improvements for or replacements of the TurboPi robots.

Quanser Multi-Robot System

Lead: Michael Abayneh

Advanced Multi-robot system for validating sophisticated robot algorithms.

Command and Control of Drone (Orb) Swarms

Lead: Luis Anchundia

Development of capabilities to enable a single human to control multiple robots simultaneously.
