The profile page showed "Failed to load profile data" because VITE_BACKEND_URL was empty in the Docker build: .env is excluded by .dockerignore and the compose runtime environment never reaches Vite's static bundle. Requests went to nginx as relative /api/... paths and got index.html back, which failed to parse as JSON. Pass VITE_API_URL and VITE_BACKEND_URL as build args so Vite inlines them.
