chore: update dependencies and automate security audits - #459
Update CLI and docs dependencies to clear the known security advisories in both lockfiles. Add a weekly/manual security audit and remove duplicate docs consistency checks.
Changes
Update Axios, generator tooling, types, oxlint, Astro and Starlight; pin patched glob while upstream tools still require vulnerable versions.
Lock linkinator 8.1.0 locally instead of downloading a floating version in CI.
Audit root and docs lockfiles every Monday at 06:30 UTC, including development dependencies. Vulnerabilities and registry failures fail the workflow.
Keep docs consistency in CI; retain the separate docs build and link check.
Raise the docs Node requirement to >=22.23.4 for Astro and retain strict ANSI-color stripping in separator tests with explicit lint rationale.
Include a patch changeset for the credential-handling dependency fixes.
Validation
bun run check: 2,586 passed, 14 skipped, zero failures; lint, types, docs consistency and formatting pass.
Both frozen installs and audits pass; no outdated direct dependencies remain.
Docs build: 57 pages; link checker: 96 links passed.
API regeneration matches the committed client; build passes the bundle size gate.
Compiled macOS ARM binary smoke tests and built CLI smoke tests on minimum Bun 1.1.30 pass.
actionlint accepts the changed workflows; vulnerable-lockfile and unavailable-registry audit tests correctly fail.
Independent cleanroom review returned no actionable findings. Follow-up CodeRabbit findings were checked and fixed: pin the docs Node version and isolate audit concurrency by commit.
Risk and rollout
The glob override crosses the upstream tools' declared ranges; API generation and link checking both passed against it. Linux and Windows verification remains with CI. The weekly audit starts after merge to main.

Summary
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Updated Axios and its redirect dependency to address credential-handling security issues.
Chores
Added scheduled and manual dependency audits for the project and its documentation.
Updated documentation tooling and raised its minimum supported Node.js version to 22.23.4.
Updated supporting development tools and dependency versions.
Documentation
Added guidance for dependency updates and security audits.
Dependency declarations and documentation tooling were updated. A scheduled security-audit workflow now audits the repository root and docs directory. Separator tests now use Node.js terminal-control stripping.
Changes: Dependency and CI maintenance
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Dependency and runtime updates .changeset/secure-maintenance-dependencies.md, package.json, docs/package.json
Dependency versions and Node.js requirements changed. The changeset declares a patch release and notes Axios and redirect-dependency updates.
A weekly or manually triggered workflow runs bun audit in the repository root and docs. Contributor guidance documents the workflow and local audit commands.
Documentation CI alignment .github/workflows/ci.yml, .github/workflows/docs-lint.yml, CONTRIBUTING.md
The documentation lint step label now includes “commands.” The docs workflow’s consistency job was removed, its Astro Node.js requirement was updated, and its link check now uses the installed linkinator binary. Contributor guidance covers related checks and dependencies.
Output service test updates
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Terminal-control stripping in separator tests tests/services/output.service.test.ts
Separator assertions now use stripVTControlCharacters instead of test-local ANSI SGR stripping.
The changes are mergeable with bounded follow-up: isolate audits by commit and align the docs workflow's Node selector with Astro's minimum. Existing branch protection should also be checked when removing the old job name.

Keep the separator assertions strict for non-color controls.
stripVTControlCharacters removes \u001b[2J before comparison. A separator regression could clear the terminal while these tests still pass. Strip only SGR color codes instead.

Update the separator assertions using stdoutLines to remove only SGR color codes
before comparison; do not strip other terminal control sequences, so
clear-screen codes remain detectable.

Deleting the consistency job removes its status check; existing branch-protection rules may still require that check.
The required status never appears for the new commit, blocking merges even if the remaining checks pass.
This can occur when: A protected branch requires the former consistency job's status when a PR is updated after this change.
