In my experience, when experienced instructors teach this lesson they cut down the markdown included in this first episode, or skip it all together. I skip it myself as learners don't need it to learn python and it feels like a side quest when we could be getting into learning python. Based on our "teach what is most useful first" or even what they need to know to get to the useful things, I think this section could be cut back.
Today, we had a new instructor teach for the first time and she followed the lesson and spent maybe 30-50 minutes of the time, showing different opening options in jupyter lab and showing the different markdown options and the exercises. I recommend we cut down on the markdown or put it in a spoiler so new instructors know they have an option to skip it.
