## `ConsoleDataView`

### Summary

A table component for displaying, filtering, sorting, and paginating a list of resources,<br/>based on PatternFly's [Data view](https://www.patternfly.org/extensions/data-view/overview).<br/>Includes built-in name and label filters, column management, and optional row selection.

### Example

```tsx
const columns: ConsoleDataViewColumn<PodDisruptionBudgetKind>[] = [
  { id: 'name', type: 'name' },
  { id: 'actions', type: 'actions' },
];
const getDataViewRows: GetDataViewRows<PodDisruptionBudgetKind> = (data, columns) =>
  data.map(({ obj: pdb }) => {
    const resourceKind = referenceForModel(PodDisruptionBudgetModel);
    return columns.map(({ id }) =>
      id === 'actions'
        ? { id }
        : {
            id,
            cell: <ResourceLink kind={resourceKind} name={pdb.metadata.name} namespace={pdb.metadata.namespace} />,
          },
    );
  });
const PDBList: React.FC<Props> = ({ data, loaded }) => (
  <ConsoleDataView<PodDisruptionBudgetKind>
    id={PodDisruptionBudgetModel}
    label="PodDisruptionBudgets"
    data={data}
    loaded={loaded}
    columns={columns}
    getDataViewRows={getDataViewRows}
    selection={{
      getItemId: (pdb) => `${pdb.metadata.namespace}/${pdb.metadata.name}`,
      getBulkActions: ({ matchingSelectedItems, clearSelection }) => [
        {
          id: 'clear-selection',
          label: 'Clear selection',
          disabled: matchingSelectedItems.length === 0,
          cta: clearSelection,
        },
      ],
    }}
  />
);
```

### Parameters

| Parameter Name | Description |
| -------------- | ----------- |
| `id` | A model, group/version/kind, or string ID used for column management, matching `console.dataview/table-column` extensions, and persisting resizable column widths. |
| `label` | (optional) A label describing the type of resource displayed. Used in empty state messages and the table's `aria-label`. |
| `data` | The array of data items to display in the table. |
| `loaded` | Flag indicating whether `data` has finished loading. |
| `loadError` | (optional) An error encountered while loading `data`. |
| `columns` | The column definitions for the table. Every column requires an ID. Name and namespace types default their translated title, metadata sort path, and nowrap header and row cell modifiers. Explicit values override the defaults; header and row cell props apply independently, and `sort: false` disables sorting. Actions and selection columns always remain visible; empty titles do not bypass visibility. |
| `getDataViewRows` | Transforms the filtered, sorted, and paginated data into rows of typed cells matched to columns by ID, independent of cell order. Unknown IDs are ignored and omitted cells render empty. Console supplies selection and extension cells separately. An omitted `actions` cell uses the resource action providers for a Kubernetes resource row; `cell: null` leaves it empty. |
| `initialFilters` | (optional) Initial values for custom string or string-array fields added via `TFilters`, and/or the built-in name and label filters. Declare every custom key here, using `''` or `[]` for inactive filters, so it participates in URL synchronization and clearing. Strings use one URL parameter and arrays use repeated parameters. The name and label filters otherwise default to empty. |
| `additionalFilterNodes` | (optional) Additional filter elements to render alongside the built-in name and label filters. |
| `getObjectMetadata` | (optional) Extracts the name and labels used by the built-in filters from a data item. |
| `matchesAdditionalFilters` | (optional) Determines whether a data item matches any custom filters. |
| `customRowData` | (optional) Additional data made available to each row. |
| `defaultSortColumnId` | (optional) The `id` of the column to sort by before the user picks one. Defaults to the first column, or the first sortable column when a checkbox column is present, and is ignored if no column has this id. A `sortBy` URL parameter takes precedence; checkbox tables accept only sortable URL targets. Note that `sortBy` names its column by translated title, not by id. |
| `defaultSortDirection` | (optional) The direction to sort by before the user picks one. Defaults to ascending. An `orderBy` URL parameter takes precedence. |
| `showNamespaceOverride` | (optional) If true, columns with `type: 'namespace'` are kept active regardless of column management selections or the active namespace. |
| `hideNameLabelFilters` | (optional) Hides both the name and label filters. |
| `hideLabelFilter` | (optional) Hides only the label filter, keeping the name filter. |
| `EmptyMsg` | (optional) Rendered in place of the table when `data` is empty, letting a consumer explain what is missing and how to create the first resource. Defaults to a generic "No {{label}} found" message. Note that this does not apply when the data is non-empty but the active filters match nothing; that case always renders the built-in in-table empty message. |
| `mock` | (optional) Renders an empty placeholder instead of the table. |
| `isResizable` | (optional) Enables resizing and saved widths for columns with a title, and shows a reset action. Defaults to `true`. |
| `additionalResponsiveActions` | (optional) Additional ResponsiveAction props to render inside ResponsiveActions, alongside the built-in column management and reset-column-widths actions. |
| `additionalToolbarContent` | (optional) Additional content to display in the actions toolbar outside ResponsiveActions. |
| `selection` | (optional) Enables managed checkbox selection with `getItemId`. `isSelectable` can disable rows. `getBulkActions` receives `matchingSelectedItems`, the selected items matching the current filters, plus `clearSelection` and `deselect` callbacks, and returns table-specific bulk actions as `Action[]`. Console also loads matching resource bulk providers for a single-model Kubernetes resource selection. Selection persists across pages and built-in filters and is removed when items leave `data`. |

## `definitionFor`

### Summary

Looks up the OpenAPI (Swagger) schema definition for a given Kubernetes model.<br/><br/>Results are memoized per model and never invalidated, so a call made before the OpenAPI<br/>schema has finished loading permanently caches a `null`/empty result for that model, even<br/>after the schema becomes available.

### Example

```ts
const definition = definitionFor(PodModel);
const specDescription = definition?.properties?.spec?.description;
```

### Parameters

| Parameter Name | Description |
| -------------- | ----------- |
| `model` | The Kubernetes model to look up. |

### Returns

The `SwaggerDefinition` for the model, with its `definitions` property populated<br/>with every definition in the document so that `$ref` values can be resolved. Returns `null`<br/>if the OpenAPI schema has not been fetched yet, or an object with a populated `definitions`<br/>property but no other fields if the model's definition could not be found.

## `useOverlay`

### Summary

The `useOverlay` hook inserts a component directly to the DOM outside the web console's page structure. This allows the component to be freely styled and positioning with CSS. For example, to float the overlay in the top right corner of the UI: `style={{ position: 'absolute', right: '2rem', top: '2rem', zIndex: 999 }}`.<br/><br/>It is possible to add multiple overlays by calling `useOverlay` multiple times.<br/><br/>A `closeOverlay` function is passed to the overlay component. Calling it removes the component from the DOM without affecting any other overlays that might have been added with `useOverlay`.<br/><br/>Additional props can be passed to `useOverlay` and they will be passed through to the overlay component.

### Example

```tsx
const OverlayComponent = ({ closeOverlay, heading }) => {
  return (
    <div style={{ position: 'absolute', right: '2rem', top: '2rem', zIndex: 999 }}>
      <h2>{heading}</h2>
      <Button onClick={closeOverlay}>Close</Button>
    </div>
  );
};
const ModalComponent = ({ body, closeOverlay, title }) => (
  <Modal isOpen onClose={closeOverlay}>
    <ModalHeader title={title} />
    <ModalBody>{body}</ModalBody>
  </Modal>
## `useResolvedExtensions`
### Summary
React hook for consuming Console extensions containing code references.<br/><br/>Initially, this hook returns a result tuple `[resolvedExtensions: [], resolved: false, errors: []]`.<br/><br/>Once the resolution is complete, this hook re-renders the component with a result tuple containing<br/>all matching extensions that had their code references resolved successfully along with any errors<br/>that occurred during the process.<br/><br/>When the list of matching extensions changes, the resolution is restarted. In such case, the hook<br/>will _not_ re-render the component with empty initial result since it's preferable to use existing<br/>state until the current resolution completes.<br/><br/>The hook's result is guaranteed to be referentially stable across re-renders, assuming referential<br/>stability of the `predicate` parameter.
### Example
```ts
const Example = () => {
  const [navItems, navItemsResolved] = useResolvedExtensions(isNavItem);
  // process extensions and render your component
};
```
### Parameters
| Parameter Name | Description |
| -------------- | ----------- |
| `predicate` | Predicate (type guard) to filter extensions of a specific type. |
### Returns
Tuple `[resolvedExtensions, resolved, errors]` containing a list of matching extensions,<br/>a boolean flag indicating whether the resolution is complete, and a list of errors detected during<br/>the resolution.
## `useToast`
### Summary
Hook that provides toast functionality for displaying alerts.
### Example
```tsx
const Component: React.FC = (props) => {
   const { addToast } = useToast();
   const handleClick = () => {
     addToast({
       title: 'Success',
       variant: 'success',
       content: 'Operation completed successfully.',
       drawerGroup: 'Operations',
     });
   };
   return <button onClick={handleClick}>Show Toast</button>;
};
```
### Returns
A context object with an addToast function for adding a toast to the screen, a<br/>removeToast function for removing it from the screen, and a minimizeToast function for<br/>hiding a drawer-persisted toast from the screen while keeping it unread in the notification drawer.
   );
   return loaded ? (
      <WrappedComponent {...props} userPreferenceState={state} setUserPreferenceState={setState} />
    ) : null;
