On windows 7, right clicking on file to show git context menu or hovering over Tools->Git gives an error in a cmd popup

Had to screenshot it to make it out, but its:

The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Sublime Text 2 is the only program I have any file open in and it does it with all of them.

How is git installed on Windows 7? I'm a little rusty when it comes to Windows development. In fact, last I looked, there wasn't even a Git client available.

Could you point me at where you downloaded the software so I can investigate further?

I use http://code.google.com/p/msysgit/downloads/list fullinstaller. It even supports a .bashrc file in ~.

Thanks. I'll take a look and see if I can replicate.

It's likely due to the way I'm checking to see if there's a git repo associated with the file. Will probably need to change it to work with Windows.

Sure thing, thanks for trying to make it work on all platforms :) Diffing a file quickly is probably what I will like the most about it.

Sure thing. Diff only does all files against HEAD right now, but on file by file basis is coming very soon, as it's something I want myself.

Dug into this a little bit last night.

From what I can tell, the issue is caused by the fact that Git isn't actually installed in Windows, but instead as part of the mingw32 environment. ie., if you drop into a regular windows shell and type git --version you get an error about it being an unrecognized program whereas if you do this in the mingw32 shell it works.

I'll need to give some thought as to how to best solve this. Even if I can rework the "test" for a git repo, the plugin would still need a way of issuing the commands through mingw32 rather than a simple subprocess.Popen call like it's doing now. Perhaps there's a way to invoke mingw32 calls directly...
