If you are willing to jailbreak your 6th gen Paperwhite, there is this: Satsuoni#74 |

Anybody know how Amazon did this / what changed? My 6th gen paperwhite is still v 5.12.2.2 - no update there, so the encryption algorithm hasn't changed. DeDRM 10.0.9 worked great until a few weeks (months?) ago when suddenly I cannot decrypt KFX files pulled directly from the kindle. I am guessing this is like the old days of cat-and-mouse DVD DRM, where they did something funky to the encryption format such that the original Kindles can still decrypt it but the decryption used by DeDRM trips up. Since it's been 4 years since the DeDRM repo was updated, I'm guessing this is a dead/abandoned project. Is there anybody out there with the skill and dedicated to get DeDRM working again, even if just briefly so we can pull down the backlog of books before Amazon borks the formatting again - or stops delivering to 6th gen paperwhites entirely? I'm not really keen on jailbreaking my 6th gen, at least not yet... |
Uh oh!

I, I am running Calibre 9.7 flatpak on Linux Mint. I read on a Kobo device but use an old Paperwhite V6 Kindle to download books from Amazon and drag them into Calibre. This has been working fine for some time but now it seems to fail on all new books purchased from Amazon, The book imports as KFX-ZIP. It's fine on books purchased elsewhere. I'm on DeDRM 10.0.9.
I don't use windows so don't have windows for PC installed. Is there any way around this? I still buy several books from Amazon but don't really want to ,use the Kindle to read them if I can help it.
I do know there is a new version of Calibre, 9.8.0, out but it's not in the flatpak repo yet. Not sure it would make a difference anyway?
Any and all, help appreciated.
