<h5>Designing bistable structures fabricated with additive manufacturing (Spring 2016)</h5>
<p> The topic of this semester research project at ETH Zürich was to study, design and manufacture 3D printed bistable structures and mechanisms. In other words, structures that can switch between two stable positions. Possible applications for such mechanisms are for instance, energy absorption (with shape recovery) or actuation.
<br>
<br><insert>Research goals:</insert> <ul><i> <li>Design and fabricate a bistable structure using 3D printing technology</li><li>Predict bistable behavior using FEA simulations</li><li>Explore the use of multi-material compliant joints </li></i></ul>Structures printed using FDM and SLA (<i>Stratasys Object 500 Connex 3, uPrint SE Plus and Fortus 380mc</i>)
