Previously in Workbench we used an XML with a list of objects, labels and fields and the language in they where in to extract the Translation meta data. We'd then use this to create a translation item you could deploy to your org if you wanted say French or German.
Using the MetaData Download feature replicates what work bench does in that we can download just the Translation and objectTranslation data but it Currently includes all the languages so in my case its German French and English.

it would be great if you could specify the Language of the translations data you want to download, all the files are usually prefixed with -fr or -de
Describe alternatives you've considered
Currently Workbench works using the Migration->deploy feature and then uploading the XML with the Language Code etc in the file. but with the salesforce changes to how you can log in WorkBench its always possible.
We can use the Current SF Inspector feature but it require manual effort to split out the Different Translation files. so we can build individual language addons for our product.
