I got error when updated kotlin to 2.2.21
Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Provided Metadata instance has version 2.2.0, while maximum supported version is 2.1.0. To support newer versions, update the kotlinx-metadata-jvm library.

Same here. I ran into this error while trying to update Kotlin to 2.3.20 from 2.1.20 (currently using version 0.3.7 of this library).

Is a fix or an update planned for this anytime soon?

It's a shame that this is still a problem. I'm banging my head against a wall trying to get Ktor bundled using this and there doesn't seem to be a clean solution.
