CVE-2024-52911 - Script Interpreter Remote Crash

• Disclosure: https://bitcoincore.org/en/2026/05/05/disclose-cve-2024-52911/
• Description: Attacker could craft an invalid block with sufficient PoW, which would cause access to an already-freed memory and would crash the node. Undiscovered since introduction in 2018, covertly fixed in 12/2004, now disclosed.
• Note: interesting to observe how the covert and later proper fix were done

TCP hole punching for Bitcoin nodes behind home NATs

• Description: Thinking about ways how to make more home users of full nodes, who are usually behind NAT, reachable. Hole punching is one technique that does not require relaying traffice through 3rd party server. Some participants in the discussion share code for experiments.
