Version v3.6.2 will now show estimated video and file size of encode in Final Encode step.

I still need to think through how to implement the Keep Original File option. One possible approach is to add a Preview Encode option, which could take a few short clips from across the video, for example 10 second long clips, encode them, and use the results to estimate the final file size. It could also show comparison images between the source and the preview encodes.

Preview Encode sounds great, maybe could check how "ab-av1" to estimate file size.

Preview Encode sounds great, maybe could check how "ab-av1" to estimate file size.

From what I can tell, ab-av1 finds the best CRF value and then uses that value to encode the entire video. RabbitEncoder uses Auto-Boost-Essential, which means each zone can end up with its own CRF value. That makes file size estimation much less predictable.

Preview Encode has been implemented in v4.0.0.

Could you try it and let me know whether it covers what you were looking for? If there is still something missing from the original Keep Original File idea, feel free to describe the workflow you had in mind.
