I want this too, but it's not an easy task. Brute forcing would take so long that it would literally be longer then the universe lasts. Seriously, I'm not exaggerating. That's why nobody wrote a brute forcer

The only way to root it is to find an exploit, which I simply can't do, because it's way too hard, and only people with specific expertise can. I actually tried decompiling this, but couldn't even begin to understand the bootloader, let alone find an exploit that let's you take it over. If you want to root it in the future, make sure not to update!

However, if you just want to get data off of it, there is an oversight that allows you to slowly save the contents of its internal storage. It's read-only, unfortunately

Enable developer mode, connect it to your computer and run adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.oculus.updater. Hopefully this isn't blocked in your version, if it is lmk and I'll try to find a workaround to disable them anyway (maybe NetGuard would work). But it seems that not many smart enough people care about Oculus jailbreaking, sadly, so it might take years for someone to actually find a jailbreak

No, unfortunately it intentionally won't let you downgrade for this exact reason

Here's the link to the details. Download Python, open a command prompt and run pip install PyUSB - basically it lets you download its internal storage to your computer, but not change anything. Then download oem_dump_partition.py and then run it (through the command prompt)

Be warned, this will probably take several days, so you'll have to leave your computer on and your Quest in recovery mode. It's not that useful though unless you want your savegame or something, or you're developing an exploit (I personally haven't bothered to do it), but at least it's something.

Also, there are still some things you can do with just developer mode:

• TheOcularMigrane has a lot of nice tweaks
• Oculess lets you disable telemetry and do some other useful things
• LightningLauncher is a nice launcher that you don't have to do the whole dropdown thing to access developer apps

Yes, that means it worked. Try to update and hopefully it should fail (although you might want run Oculess first to make sure it's disabled)

Not sure what you mean by "haven't even seen it in updates", but your version is less than 333700.2680.0, so it probably isn't fixed. Even if you're past that version, you still can use it (you have to know the first 512 bytes, but that's not too hard). Try booting into recovery/fastboot mode (adb reboot recovery or adb reboot fastboot) and run fastboot oem sha1 boot 1

I haven't heard of any specific to the Oculus, it seems to be a niche topic. You could try Android bootloader unlocking related communities such as XDA, or just post it here

By debug menu do you mean the recovery menu, developer options, or something else? Also note that you can open the Android settings using Oculess if you haven't already, which lets you mess around with some things

ik about the android settings menu, i used it to enabled developer mode cause too lazy to make an org with the website. It is convenient how i can sideload without pc/meta developer mode, dont need to set 2fa

Pattern password quirk: you can set the pattern password through AOSP setting. It will actually set it (3x3 square grid) but when you try to unlock headset, it will show the weird meta hexagon. It is also shown in app (it will show Pattern and allow you to try unlock through the hexagon) great way to brick headset and need to reset.

Password (not pin) quirk: if you set a password, then try to unlock, it will only give numbers. On phone app, it will say pin set (or whatever the numerical thing is) and show pin icon, but when you click on it it shows full keyboard

enable charge limit: stops it from charging at the percentage it is right now
