# Copy to `keystore.properties` (gitignored) for LOCAL signed release builds:
# cp keystore.properties.example keystore.properties # then fill in real values
# ./gradlew assembleRelease -PbirdwatchVersion=2026.09.1
# CI does NOT use this file. GitHub Actions injects the ANDROID_KEYSTORE_* env vars from
# repository secrets (see .github/workflows/release.yml).
#
# To create a keystore once:
# keytool -genkeypair -v -keystore release.jks -alias release -keyalg RSA -keysize 4096 -validity 10000
# Keep the .jks and these passwords somewhere safe. Losing them means users must uninstall to upgrade.

# Built-in Google Maps key (optional; RELEASE builds only). Restrict it in the Cloud Console to
# package com.khasmek.birdwatch + the SHA-1 of the certificate above + the "Maps SDK for Android"
# API. Debug builds never embed it (they are signed with a different certificate, so it would not
# work anyway); enter a key in the app's Settings for a debug build instead. CI reads
# BIRDWATCH_MAPS_KEY from the MAPS_API_KEY repository secret. Without one, the map uses the key
# the user enters in Settings. Must be a real key (39 chars, "AIza" prefix) or the build fails.
